Course Overview

Why to enroll in this course?

In Chapter Thirteen of Nectar of Devotion Srila Prabhupada describes five potent forms of devotional service:

  • serving the Deity with great devotion
  • recitation of Srimad-Bhagavatam among devotees
  • associating with advanced devotees
  • chanting the holy name of the Lord
  • living in the holy dhama.

He indicates that by engaging in these activities even a neophyte can make rapid advancement and experience transcendental ecstasy. In Caitanya-caritamrtaKrishnadasaKavirajaGosvami describes that even a slight performance of pancaanga bhakti awakens love for Krishna.

This course enhances one’s attraction and absorption in these important limbs of devotional service.

Who should enroll in this course?

Those devotees who are enthusiastic and serious about the study of the Bhagavad Gita and other books of Srila Prabhupada.

Course Description:

This course will not only enhance sastric knowledge & understanding and thereby make one more determined in practicing Krishna consciousness but to make you potent to convey Gaudiya Vaishnav principles to the society.

This course comprises an in-depth study of Bhagavad-gītā, ŚrīĪśopanisad, Nectar of Devotion, and Nectar of Instruction. It has been designed for devotees who have been seriously practicing Kṛṣṇa consciousness for at least a year, and have basic śāstric knowledge and understanding.

Course Requirements:

  • One must be 18 years or above in age.
  • As per the guidelines of ISKCON Board of Examination to pursue Bhakti Shastri course, the students must chant minimum 16 rounds of Hare Krishna maha-mantra daily & follow the four regulative principles.
  • You must be recommended by an ISKCON authority who knows you well, certifying that you have been engaged favorably at ISKCON for at least the previous 12 months.

Study Materials


During the course, one will need the four Bhakti-çästré books: Bhagavad Gita, Nectar of Devotion, Sri Ishopanishad and Nectar of Instruction. One will be provided with Bhakti-çästré Students Handbook at the beginning of the course.

 

It is recommended that the student completes the reading of these books before taking this course in order to take the maximum benefit of this course.

Course structure & Assessments:

After every unit, there will be

1)    Closed-book assessment

2)    Open-book assessment

3)    Shloka memorization test

1.     Bhagavad Gita – Chapters 1-6

2.     Bhagavad Gita – Chapters 7-12

3.     Bhagavad Gita – Chapters 13-18

4.     Nectar of Devotion

5.     Sri Ishopanishad

6.     Nectar of Instruction

Attendance policies:

1.     Students need to have a minimum of 75% attendance per unit as per the policies of the ISKCON Board of Examinations.

2.     Attendance can be online or offline depending on the situation. Online attendees need to keep their videos on for the entire duration of the class.

  • Class Timings may change during the course as per the availability of the teachers or other affecting factors.
  • Minimum 15 Students are required to commence the batch. In case we receive less than 15 Students, then students may opt for another batch or can wait for next season when the new batch starts.
